Commerzbank CEO requires multilateralism, decries “Nation first” method

FRANKFURT, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Commerzbank's CBKG.DE chief govt officer on Friday criticised the U.S

FRANKFURT, Nov 22 (Reuters)Commerzbank’s CBKG.DE chief govt officer on Friday criticised the U.S. administration’s method to unilateral offers and referred to as for Germany and Europe to “keep on with our rules”.

Talking to outstanding bankers at an annual convention in Frankfurt, Martin Zielke stated that the U.S. and its president wished to make offers, including that they wished to try this unilaterally if attainable.

“We shouldn’t be tempted by the false slogan of ‘Nation first’ options. Quite the opposite, we should always do all that’s attainable to beat the deep divisions that we observe in some societies,” Zielke stated.

“We should always not permit ourselves to be lowered merely to dealmakers,” he added.
