Oct 29 (Reuters) – Delta Air Traces Inc DAL.N and the union that represents its pilots have reached a preliminary cost-cutting deal that can stop furloughs till Jan. 1, 2022, the union stated late on Thursday.
Delta MEC, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Affiliation, stated the settlement – which nonetheless wants approval from Delta’s almost 13,000 pilots – will reduce month-to-month minimal assured hours by 5%.
In September, Delta reached a tentative settlement with the negotiating committee of its pilots’ union to scale back the variety of furloughs by 220, bringing the brand new whole variety of job reductions to 1,721.
The airline business has been hit laborious by the coronavirus outbreak as journey has been restricted amid the pandemic, with Delta and different airways specializing in reducing prices, boosting liquidity and restoring buyer confidence.
