EU approves 12.eight million euros in new state help for Italian provider Alitalia


BRUSSELS, Could 12 (Reuters)The European Fee has authorized 12.eight million euros of Italian state help for Alitalia to compensate the airline for losses suffered throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the EU govt stated on Wednesday.

It’s the fourth authorisation for subsidies to Alitalia that the Fee has authorized because the starting of the pandemic.

The brand new direct grant takes to greater than 310 million euros the full of state help authorized by the EU in favour of Alitalia for damages brought on by the pandemic from March to December 2020.

“This measure goals at compensating the airline for the damages suffered on sure routes as a result of coronavirus outbreak throughout the month of January 2021,” the Fee stated in a press release.

The Fee added that EU investigations are ongoing into two assist measures value a complete of 1.three billion euros that Italy granted to Alitalia in 2017 and 2019.
