GENEVA, Dec 12 (Reuters)Famine threatens the lives of as much as 5.5 million folks in South Sudan, the place droughts and flooding have destroyed crops and livestock, compounding “intense political instability”, the United Nations warned on Thursday.

The U.N.’s World Meals Programme (WFP) stated it wanted $270 million urgently to offer meals to hungry South Sudanese within the first half of 2020 and avert mass hunger on the planet’s youngest nation.
