German farmers anticipate to reap extra wheat, rapeseed in 2021

HAMBURG, July 7 (Reuters)Germany’s wheat and rapeseed harvests are anticipated to extend in 2021 as rain helped crops get better from a sizzling, dry begin to the summer season, the affiliation of German farmers stated.

In addition to being the European Union’s second largest wheat producer after France, in most years Germany is the bloc’s largest producer of rapeseed, which is Europe’s predominant oilseed for edible oil, biodiesel and animal feed meal manufacturing.

Germany will harvest about 22.82 million tonnes of winter wheat in 2021, up 5% on the 12 months, the DBV affiliation stated in its first crop report on Wednesday.

Together with spring and laborious wheat, Germany’s whole wheat harvest of all sorts will attain about 23.13 million tonnes it stated. That is up about 4.5% on the 12 months.

Germany’s 2021 winter rapeseed harvest will rise 6% on the 12 months to round 3.71 million tonnes, the DBV stated.

“We anticipate a median harvest differing regionally,” DBV President Joachim Rukwied stated within the report.
