PRAGUE, Jan 22 (Reuters) – China’s Hainan Airways will halt common direct flights between Beijing and Prague beginning in March, the Prague Airport and the Czech Overseas Ministry mentioned on Wednesday.
No motive was given however relations between the Czech Republic and China have deteriorated sharply previously months following a collection of diplomatic spats. Flights to China by different carriers usually are not affected, the airport mentioned.
“We haven’t any official info why this step was taken,” Overseas Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Stichova mentioned. “We do not know whether or not this can be a short-term or definitive resolution and whether or not this step is commercially or politically motivated.”
“In forthcoming negotiations, whether or not in Prague or Beijing, we’re going to ask our Chinese language companions concerning the causes for this resolution.”
Hainan Airways and China’s embassy in Prague didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
