International aluminium producer seeks Q1 premium of $92/T from Japan consumers -sources

TOKYO, Nov 29 (Reuters)A worldwide aluminium producer has provided Japanese consumers a premium of $92 per tonne for January-March major steel shipments, down 5.2% from the present quarter, 4 sources immediately concerned in quarterly pricing talks stated on Friday.

Japan is Asia’s largest importer of the steel and the premiums for major steel shipments it agrees to pay every quarter over the London Steel Change (LME) money worth CMAL0 set the benchmark for the area.

For the October-December quarter, Japanese consumers agreed to pay a premium of $97 per tonne PREM-ALUM-JP, down 10% from the prior quarter.

The most recent quarterly pricing negotiations started this week between Japanese consumers and miners together with Rio Tinto Ltd RIO.AX, RIO.L and South32 Ltd S32.AX, and are anticipated to proceed to subsequent month.
