KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Reuters)Malaysia’s flagship funds airline AirAsia Group Bhd AIRA.KL is ceasing its Japanese operations instantly, it mentioned in a bourse submitting on Monday.

The airline mentioned it has been notified that the AirAsia Japan (AAJ) board of administrators have taken a choice to stop operations with fast impact.

“We respect and have agreed to the choice made by AAJ as this would cut back the money burn of AAJ and the Firm amid the extremely difficult working circumstances in Japan which have been aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic,” it mentioned.

Group Chief Government Officer Tony Fernandes final month informed Reuters that the group was reviewing its enterprise in Japan because of the affect of the pandemic.
