LIMA, Dec 1 (Reuters)A whole bunch of staff from agricultural export firms in southern Peru burned tires and deserted automobiles on Tuesday alongside a key freeway within the Andean nation’s farm-rich south, stranding dozens of tractor-trailers with perishable merchandise underneath the noon solar.

The protesters, whose calls for included increased wages, blocked the Panamericana Sur freeway 300 km (190 miles) south of Lima, leaving vehicles and motorists at a standstill for hours, based on tv stories.

“They’ve blocked the Panamericana Sur and the districts of Santiago to be able to forestall staff from going to the farms to do their every day work,” Marlon Anticona, the police chief of the Ica area in southern Peru, advised an area tv community.

Protesters complain of paltry salaries as little as 39 soles ($11) every day and antiquated legal guidelines that favor large firms over staff.
