Russia offered mortgage to Syria for meals purchases -Interfax

MOSCOW, June 4 (Reuters)Russia has offered a mortgage to Syria to be used partially to pay for meals purchases, the Interfax information company reported on Friday, citing Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov.

Moscow has supported Syrian President Bashar al Assad within the nation, whose financial system has been strained by a multi-sided 10-year battle, in addition to a monetary disaster in neighbouring Lebanon.

Russia, one of many world’s largest exporters of wheat, provides grain to Syria on industrial foundation, however humanitarian provides are potential upon request, Borisov was quoted as saying.

He didn’t disclose the scale of the mortgage.

Russia plans to produce Syria with as much as 1 million tonnes of wheat in 2021, of which 350,000 tonnes have already been delivered this spring, the Russian embassy to Syria stated in Might.
