AUSTIN, Texas, Jan 19 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump sought on Sunday to guarantee American farmers and ranchers hit by a protracted tariff battle with China {that a} commerce settlement he signed with Beijing will result in main purchases of U.S. agricultural merchandise.
Trump’s remarks in Texas, a state he received in 2016 and can want once more in November’s election, had all of the hallmarks of a political stump speech, with a slam at Democrats attempting to take away him by impeachment and a want he may put on a cowboy hat in Washington.
He started his remarks to the annual American Farm Bureau Federation conference in Austin by waving a replica of a Farm Journal ballot that stated he had large help amongst farmers and ranchers.
Trump stated the preliminary commerce deal he signed with China final Wednesday can be a boon for farmers, whom he thanked for sticking with him after he twice needed to allocate multibillion-dollar bailouts for producers focused by Chinese language tariffs.
