U.S. appeals court docket vacates biofuel waivers granted by Trump administration

NEW YORK, Might 19 (Reuters)The 10th U.S. Circuit Courtroom of Appeals on Wednesday vacated three waivers exempting oil refiners from biofuel mixing mandates that former President Donald Trump’s administration granted within the final hours of his time period.

The U.S. Environmental Safety Company, which granted the waivers in January to Sinclair Oil Corp refineries, didn’t correctly analyze authorized questions earlier than granting the waivers, the ruling dated on Wednesday mentioned.

The EPA, underneath President Joe Biden, filed a movement in late April to vacate the waivers. The EPA had mentioned it didn’t analyze whether or not Sinclair’s refineries would have certified to obtain the exemptions, in keeping with a court docket ruling from January 2020.
