Oct 23 (Reuters) – U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has advised in an interview with the Monetary Instances that new negotiations with the European Union could possibly be an alternative choice to imposing tariffs on automotive imports subsequent month.
“One (possibility) could be to say, ‘I am simply not going to do something’, the second could be to impose tariffs on some or all (nations) . . . the third is likely to be another type of negotiation,” Ross stated in an interview printed by the Monetary Instances on Wednesday, describing the choices being thought of by U.S. President Donald Trump.
On commerce talks with China, Ross stated China was following by way of “in good religion” on assurances given earlier in October to press forward with giant purchases of U.S. farm merchandise.
Because the Trump administration’s common license for U.S. firms to promote to Huawei Applied sciences HWT.UL expires in November, Ross advised the newspaper this was not a tough deadline and could possibly be altered.
