WASHINGTON, March 11 (Reuters)The head of the U.S. Home of Representatives transportation panel urged the Federal Aviation Administration on Thursday to increase a “zero-tolerance” coverage for passengers not carrying masks or inflicting disturbances on flights.

In January, FAA Administrator Steve Dickson signed an order directing the coverage after supporters of then-President Donald Trump have been disruptive on some flights. Dickson warned that disruptive passengers might withstand $35,000 in fines and attainable jail time and stated the coverage would final by means of March 30.

Democratic Consultant Peter DeFazio, who chairs the Home Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, urged Dickson to proceed the “coverage till public well being officers decide that mass vaccinations have eradicated the danger of an infection” on airplanes.
