U.S. lawmakers will press Boeing CEO on Day 2 of testimony

WASHINGTON, Oct 30 (Reuters)Boeing Co BA.N Chief Government Dennis Muilenburg faces a second day of questions Wednesday from U.S. lawmakers on its now grounded 737 MAX after sharp criticism at a Senate listening to Tuesday.

U.S. Consultant Peter DeFazio, who heads the Home Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, which will hear from Muilenburg on Wednesday, mentioned in a written assertion that the committee’s prolonged investigation into the MAX has turned up important questions on Boeing’s decision-making.

“One thing went drastically mistaken, a complete of 346 folks died, and we now have an obligation to repair it,” DeFazio will say in his opening assertion.

DeFazio mentioned the panel is conscious of “no less than one case the place a Boeing supervisor implored the then-vice president and normal supervisor of the 737 program to close down the 737 MAX manufacturing line due to security considerations.” Boeing didn’t remark Tuesday on the allegation.
