UK launches motion towards Ryanair and BA over refunds

LONDON, June 9 (Reuters)Britain’s competitors authority stated on Wednesday it was investigating whether or not Ryanair RYA.I and British Airways had damaged shopper regulation by failing to supply refunds for flights clients couldn’t legally take through the COVID pandemic.

In periods of lockdown throughout Britain, the airways refused to offer refunds to people who had been lawfully unable to fly, with IAG-owned British Airways ICAG.L providing vouchers or rebooking and Ryanair offering the choice to rebook.

The Competitors and Markets Authority stated the airways could have breached shopper regulation and it had opened enforcement circumstances towards them.
