The Alien TV series coming to FX started production over the summer, but was interrupted by the writers’ and actors’ strikes. With both finally resolved, showrunner Noah Hawley has expressed some optimism about the series.

The show–drawing inspiration, of course, from the classic 1979 horror-s/f film–is expected “to be shooting in February, and looks to continue until July or so,” Hawley told The Wrap. “That puts the air date somewhere in the first half of 2025.”

Hawley said he was able to complete filming most of the first hour before the shutdown, “but I wasn’t able to film anything with my star (Sydney Chandler). So, I still have the bulk of the show to film. And we have seven more hours to shoot.”

The series will be the first story in the Alien franchise to be set on Earth–about 70 years in our future. Joining Chandler in the cast are Alex Lawther as the male lead character called CJ, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gouray as Slightly and Kit Young as Tootles.
